When I asked for guest posts I was really happy that Jenn wanted to do this post for me, I'd offered to write this post for Emily from Always Opinionated Girl, which you can check that out here, but I really wanted to showcase this post myself. So here are the books that Jenn would give to younger versions of herself for Christmas!
Hi guys! It’s Jenn from a page of Jenniely and I’m so excited to be doing a guest post on Rebecca’s blog! The first book I’d gift my past self is:
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Now don’t get me wrong, I read Harry Potter when I was young, but not as soon as it came out. I missed out on critical Harry Potter years! So if I could, I’d give this book to me as soon as it came out, First Edition, so I could still be treasuring it now.
I could go on about how amazing Harry Potter is but I’m sure you’re all very aware. For me I think the Goblet of Fire really stuck out to me as a kid. I remember every release of HP and where I was when I got the next book, so I’d definitely have loved a few more years of obsession!
An Ember in the Ashes
This book really just blew me away. I think if I had read it when I was younger it would have changed a lot of my reading habits. So I would totally gift myself this, even if it was just a few years earlier than I had actually read it. You should definitely check it out if you haven’t read it!
When I read it I fell in love with the characters, and the emotions I felt were raw and real in a response to what the characters went through. The struggle is believable. Pick this book up!
Any Book by V. E. Schwab
I have yet to read her books… I know, awful! I haven’t had a chance yet but I’m DYING to read them. There’s just too many books coming out that I need to read gahhhh. So I would gift myself any of her books so I could become a proper fan girl at the beginning.
V.E. Schwab is just an inspiration.
Basic Witches: How to Summon Success, Banish Drama, and Raise Hell with Your Coven
This book was super cool. Full of amazing spells, self care, feminism… it is really empowering. I wish I had had this book as a teenager when I was into really witchy stuff because these spells would have been amazing to cast back then!
What books would you gift your past self? Let me know! Follow me on Twitter or on my blog where I talk about mainly YA books!
Thanks for having me! - You're very welcome Hun!
