Juliet Young always writes letters to her mother, a world-traveling photojournalist. Even after her mother's death, she leaves letters at her grave. It's the only way Juliet can cope.

Declan Murphy isn't the sort of guy you want to cross. In the midst of his court-ordered community service at the local cemetery, he's trying to escape the demons of his past.

When Declan reads a haunting letter left beside a grave, he can't resist writing back. Soon, he's opening up to a perfect stranger, and their connection is immediate. But neither Declan nor Juliet knows that they're not actually strangers. When life at school interferes with their secret life of letters, sparks will fly as Juliet and Declan discover truths that might tear them apart.

Harper has tried to forget the past and fit in at expensive boarding school Duncraggan Academy. Her new group of friends are tight; the kind of girls who Harper knows have her back. But Harper can't escape the guilt of her twin sister's Jenna's death, and her own part in it - and she knows noone else will ever really understand.

But new girl Kirsty seems to get Harper in ways she never expected. She has lost a sister too. Harper finally feels secure. She finally feels...loved. As if she can grow beyond the person she was when Jenna died.

Then Kirsty's behaviour becomes more erratic. Why is her life a perfect mirror of Harper's? And why is she so obsessed with Harper's lost sister? Soon, Harper's closeness with Kirsty begins to threaten her other relationships, and her own sense of identity.

How can Harper get back to the person she wants to be, and to the girls who mean the most to her?

A darkly compulsive story about love, death, and growing up under the shadow of grief.

Burn, Rewrite, Reread

Monday 18 September 2017

I got the idea to do this post from Kelly over at Kelly's Ramblings, so make sure you check out her post too! The idea is to pick 3 books at random from your ‘read’ shelf on Goodreads and decide which you will reread, which you will rewrite and which book will be burned! I’m going to do five rounds for this post.

The Rules:

  • Randomly choose 3 books you’ve read. (Use the ‘random’ option on your Goodreads “read” shelf.)
  • For each group of three books, decide which book you’d burn, rewrite, or reread.
  • Repeat until you complete three rounds (or five)

Get To Know Me Tag

Monday 11 September 2017

Hey everyone, I got this tag from the lovely Faye over at Daydreamers Thoughts, so go check out her post and show her some love! Today I'm doing the get to know me tag because I've been doing this blogging thing for nearly nine months but I don't think I've shared very much about my life beyond books. So on that note, lets start getting to know me with the book section of the tag...

Books

Can you stop reading at any time, or does it have to be a certain page or chapter?
As long I'm not in bed and falling asleep then I will always finish a chapter before putting my book down. If a book is separated into 'parts' then I'd much rather finish a part because that's where the author has deliberately broken up the book.

Do you eat or drink anything whilst reading?
Drinking I suppose but I hate cracking the spine of a book so in order to keep it open I usually need two hands to actually be able to read.

Can you read listening to music or watching tv?
Honestly I could read through anything, I have to in my house. Dogs barking, people talking, every TV in the house being on... Music would be tame.

One book at a time or several at once?
One. I have to finish a book before I start another or I get my wires crossed or end up never going back to finish one.

Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere. Reading outside of my house would actually be easier.

Reading out loud or in your head?
In my head, reading out loud would take far too long.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?
Not since I was about ten.

Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
New. Broken spines aren't good for anyone or anything.

Do you write books or just read them?
I'm trying to write! And I do that by reading and thinking how cool it would be if someone was reading my book.

Five favorite books:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

The last book that you read?
I just finished They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
Currently reading Noah Can't Even by Simon James Green

When DI Chris Sigurdsson is assigned a grisly murder case on remote Salvation Island, he knows that it might be his strangest yet.

A forgotten wrestling star of the 1980s has been poisoned whilst in the ring, and amidst the slippery lies of his dangerous opponents, unravelling the victim’s murky past is almost impossible.

And as a storm threatens to cut Salvation Island off from the mainland, the race is on for Sigurdsson to find the ruthless killer before he strikes again…

Illumicrate - August Unboxing

Monday 4 September 2017

I honestly didn't think that anything could top the May Illumicrate box but I was wrong! For anyone who doesn't know, Illumicrate is a quarterly subscription box that gives you books (usually ARCs and/or exclusive versions of books) and other bookish goodies for just £30 including postage. The August subscription is easily my favourite so far and I'm really excited to be sharing the amazing contents of this box with you. Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn't received their box yet!
